The Howard Sisters are Back and Feistier than Ever!

Crossing Sisters is the spin-off of Jessica Tilles's best-selling novel, In My Sisters' Corner, picking up where all the drama left off.

Although China’s life shattered into a million pieces when her husband of twenty years committed suicide, she continues to annoy Maya, criticizing and indulging in monumental arguments, and spewing her hateful venom. However, when ugly secrets are revealed, China and Maya begin to question their relationship and love for each other.

Free is madly in love with Sam, and is elated to accept his proposal of marriage, despite a devastating loss, and Jade is happily in love with Jon.

The sisters are still at each others’ throats, but will an unexpected trip to Montego Bay and a tragic accident change their lives, their love and their attitude toward each other?

Crossing Sisters is a highly entertaining page-turner from acclaimed author Jessica Tilles that explores the meaning of love and sisterhood through tragic life-changing events.

Happy Spring!

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Xpress Yourself Publishing, and we're celebrating with a BANG with 7 new releases, 1 new author and 2 pieces of great news!

Some of your favorite authors have returned and have truly written novels that will not disappoint! See them all under New Releases on this month's Newsletter.

Lastly, I am happy to announce that Cost of Our Affairs by Linda R. Herman and Loving Simone by Jessica Tilles was selected by Black Expressions Book Club and are now available in hardback! If you're not a member of Black Expressions Book Club, you can join up and get our books for only $0.50! Whomever heard of buying a hardback book for $0.50? Easier to Find One When You Have One...

It's easier to find one when you already have one...

I've heard this expression used in connection with jobs. People say that it is easier to find a job when you already have one - which is true - but why is that true? Is it because you're not in a state of desperation. Is it because when you go hunting for a job, you don't necessarily need it (since you already have one) but it would be okay if you got it? Can employers since your desperation when you're completely jobless? Do they have the upper hand?

Recently, I've heard the same expression (It's easier to find one when you already have one) used concerning relationships in conjunction with this expression: Nobody wants someone that no one else wants.

Really? So is all hope lost for single people who are looking for suitable mates? Do men look at a women and NOT want them because, presumably, no one else wants her so why should he? Do men think that the woman has some flaw that other men loathed, and therefore she wouldn't be a suitable mate for him? Or is it true - that men want a woman that other men want.

You could conclude this in Reggie's case. In my new novel, Another Man's Treasure, his single, best friend Tiphani (pronounced Tiffany) is very much in love with him. He knows this, but he doesn't want to act on those feelings until he sees her with another man. An act of jealousy or an act of love? You be the judge.

Another Man's Treasure is available for Pre-Order now at www.xpressyourselfpublishing.com for 20% off.

Have you ever been trapped?

In 1963, I was born a female.

In the late seventies, I found myself attracted to females.

In the late eighties, I changed my name to be more masculine.

It became a really dangerous journey, trying to hide the real me. Once rumors began to circulate that I was really a female, and someone threatened to kill me, I had to realize that it was time to find my true self.

Trapped Inside a Female's Body is not fiction. This is the true story of my life.

Introducing Another Man's Treasure

Can a man and woman be best friends without feelings getting in the way?

That's how the idea behind Another Man's Treasure, my new novel. In the story, Tiphani Water can openly admit to herself that she is in love with her best friend, Reggie Howard. The problem is, she doesn't have the guts to tell him how she really feels. So she remains his "best friend" while agonizingly watching other women date the man she loves...

There is a catch to all of this - Reggie has an idea how she feels about him, and uses her own emotions to control and manipulate her to his own advantage. He loves his friend and he selfishly wants her all to himself as a friend while he also has a girlfriend. He has the best of both worlds.

His world is suddenly turned upside down when Tiphani agrees to go on a blind date with Derrick Brooks. Derrick is a bit older, more mature and very well grounded. He and Tiphani hit it off, then suddenly, Reggie grows so jealous, he breaks up with his girlfriend to pursue Tiphani.

His actions has Tiphani thinking like Jennifer Lopez in her song, Ain't It Funny:

Ain't that funny
Baby that you want me, when you had me
Love is crazy, now I can smile and say
Ain't that funny...

But it's not funny. Though Tiphani is dating a hot, handsome gentleman, she still has feelings for Reggie which makes her situation that much more difficult. She has a lifelong history with Reggie. They grew up together. Their mothers are best friends. They have history. But is their history enough to pull her away from Derrick?

Yeah, it's definitely not funny. It's a little sad. Reggie had Tiphani at his side for years. It wasn't until another man stepped into the picture that made him realize that he wanted her. And now, it just may be too late.

Another Man's Treasure will be released March 15, 2011 and is available for pre-order now. Click here to find out more.

From Victim to Survivor, I did it and you can too!

Domestic abuse, also known asspousal abuse, occurs when one person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control the other person. Domestic abuse that includes physical violence is called domestic violence.
Domestic violence and abuse are used for one purpose and one purpose only: to gain and maintain total control over you. An abuser doesn’t “play fair.” Abusers use fear, guilt, shame, and intimidation to wear you down and keep you under his or her thumb. Your abuser may also threaten you, hurt you, or hurt those around you.
Please recognize the signs of abuse.

But, there is help and HOPE.
Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at:
1-800-799-7233 or visit them online @ http://www.ndvh.org/
Safe Horizon http://www.safehorizion.org/
Love Is Not Abuse http://www.loveisnotabuse.org/
For local help in Asheville, NC visit, http://www.helpmateonline.org/ , they also have links to other agencies around the country.
For the legal help you'll need contact, http://www.womenslaw.org/
And when women say, "But, I'm staying for the children." Don't! The abuse you endure affects them too.

Again, if you are being abused please get help. Despite what many people believe, domestic violence and abuse is not due to the abuser’s loss of control over his or her behavior. In fact, abusive behavior and violence is a deliberate choice made by the abuser in order to control you.

If you are an abuser, you most definitely need to get help and there is help for you, too. Contact your local United Way 211, by dialing 211 from your landline, visiting http://211.org/ or dialing their national line from your mobile phone at 703.836.7112 and they well direct you to your local branch.

A New Voice in Romance...

Xpress Yourself Publishing announces the debut release of Secrets on Lake Drive by new romance author and Charlotte, North Carolina native Tina Martin.

Will he ever care enough to tell her?
(ISBN: 978-0-9845273-0-4, $14.95)

Monica and Sean clash at a parent-teacher conference when Monica accuses Sean of being too occupied with making money and chasing women to take a real interest in his son’s life. But Sean is no pushover. He knows how to hold his own and deal with Monica, but after the incident at school, he’s also come to realize that he can use Monica’s devotion to his advantage. He propositions her to move into his home to babysit five-year-old Roman for the three months of summer break, offering her a substantial amount of money, hoping that she’ll accept. But is babysitting the only reason he’s so anxious to get her into his mansion?

Monica accepts his offer against her better judgment, knowing the rumors of Sean and his womanizing ways. She tells herself that she’s doing this for Roman – that she can avoid her new, sexy, summer boss – his chiseled chest, pretty green eyes and charm that just won’t quit. But after only a few weeks, Monica finds it a struggle to keep her eyes off of Sean. Can she handle staying focused on her babysitting gig for three months without being swept off of her feet by Milwaukee’s finest? Or is Sean’s game too much for the young, conservative teacher to handle?

Having been heartbroken in the past, Monica is reluctant to play this dangerous game with a confirmed heartbreaker. But it’s what she doesn’t know about Sean that she should be concerned about. Sean knows her well – too well, and it’s those secrets that have the potential to make her love him or hate him.

Secrets On Lake Drive is an emotional story about a woman looking to correct wrongs in her life that could easily be solved by the secrets Sean quietly carries with him. The question is, will he ever care enough to tell her?

Fresh, real and exciting, Tina Martin is making her mark on the literary scene and is striding to take her seat next to some of the industry’s great Romance writers, with her debut novel, Secrets on Lake Drive.
* * *
Jessica Tilles, best-selling author and award-winning publisher of Xpress Yourself Publishing, chats candidly with Tina Martin.

Jessica: So, Tina, tell us about your passion for writing. What drives you? What impact do you want your book to make on the readers?

Tina: My passion for writing stems from my vivid imagination and an insatiable desire to have others see life through my creativity. I have a philosophy that I write to create my own world, and it’s my goal as a writer to take the reader out of their world and into mine.

I want readers to be entertained by stories of love & relationships, hope, failures and successes.

Jessica: Introduce us to your book, Secrets on Lake Drive.

Tina: Secrets On Lake Drive is a story of two people, Monica and Sean, who both have had failed relationships. She’s his son’s teacher. He’s a single father. They clash over what Monica considers to be child neglect, but after the matter is settled, they get to know each other on a personal level, finding out slowly that nothing is what it seems in any circumstance. It is an emotional, suspenseful romance about a woman looking to correct wrongs in her life that could easily be solved by the secrets Sean quietly carries with him.

Jessica: What inspired you to write this story?

Tina: I wrote this story because appearances are not always what they seem. Monica seems to have her life together, but she doesn’t by any means. Sean is rumored to be a womanizer and a dog just because he’s handsome (and single) with a lot of money. I think it’s important for people to not judge one another and find deeper meaning in friendships and relationships.

Jessica: Why a romance novel?

Tina: Why do we breathe? Why do we live? Why do we wake up in the morning? In some way or another, we all want to be loved, and my novels epitomize the desire within us all to love, to be in love and to be loved.

Jessica: On a personal note, what are your hobbies when you’re not weaving great stories?

Tina: I enjoy writing, bike riding, relaxing at the beach, writing poetry and spending time with family.

TINA MARTIN was born in Ahoskie, North Carolina. She took an interest in writing in high school. After graduating she wrote her first poem A Love So Extraordinary, and from that point forward, she used writing as an outlet to express all the drama going on in her life during that time.

It wasn’t until enrolling in college that she decided to explore fiction writing. In a Creative Writing course, she gained more knowledge on how to be creative and expressive through words. She cruised through the course with a perfect grade and from that point forward, she knew she had found her calling.

Tina has always been very talented and comes from a rich background of learning – Creative Writing, Arts, Acting, Desktop Publishing and Web Design. Graduating from college with a degree in Computer Technology and a certification in Accounting, her professors urged her to keep going to school to pursue even more technical knowledge, but Tina had other plans.

In 2007, Tina self-published her collection of poetry called Love Like Yours. Friends and family praise her for deep thoughts and expressions in her work which motivates her to continue doing what she loves.

Tina resides with her husband and son in Charlotte, North Carolina where she finished her novel, Secrets On Lake Drive, which is available in bookstores everywhere and at your favorite online retailer.

Touched by Mama

Touched by Mama
by Brenda Anderson

ISBN: 978-0-9845273-3-5
Retail: $9.95
Available June 1, 2010

Have you ever been exposed to the wondrous miracle of death? Better yet, what is death? For many people, death is accompanied by deep sorrow, silent fear, tremendous pain and hollow emptiness. So, one might ask, “How in the world can anyone associate death with a miracle?”

Touched by Mama was written from our family to yours about what we experienced and learned about the beauty of life and death. Before we can attempt to comprehend the mysteries of death, we must first explore the aspects of life. The process of death is the same for all of us; however, the depth of our experience with death, like childbirth, is as different as we are unique. It is our prayer that everyone who reads this book will first be blessed and filled by the Glory of God and secondly understands that death is a miraculous process, just like the amazing metamorphosis of a butterfly.

"Brenda Anderson writes with unflinching honesty and and clear-eyed compassion.
I was brought to tears, and was touched by Mama, too."

The kind of book that wives will love to read and husbands love to hate...

Some wives have wondered why their husband won’t listen to them. And some have resigned to themselves that he never will. Maybe with some understanding there is hope:

—A husband tends to use only half of his brain while listening; a wife tends to use both sides of her brain.

—Men tend not to be emotional. They also tend not to talk as much as a woman. So they don’t provide women with the kind of feedback that they desire.

—There is a tendency in some people to resist while listening to others.
—The Bible exhorts husbands to love their wives and dwell with them with understanding. There are also examples of husbands who listened to their wives for their benefit or their own peril.

Using real-life and personal examples, a famous model of communication, and Bible references, popular Internet talk show host S.B. Redd offers a practical approach to improving marriage by encouraging husbands to listen to their wives.
Husbands, Listen to Your Wives (ISBN: 978-0-9845273-2-8, Xpress Yourself Publishing) is the kind of book that wives will love to read and husbands love to hate. But, on June 17, 2010, if a husband dares to read S.B. Redd’s eye opener, he just might learn a trick or two in avoiding the doghouse.

Sensuality 101: Ten Days, Ten Tips for a Spicy Valentine's Day

DAY SEVEN: Girl Talk

Sharing sexual secrets with your best girlfriend can be an invaluable resource. Unfortunately, a lot of us do not tap into this resource because we are afraid of what our friends will think of us. We have to remember that as women, we are nurturers and healers by nature and when we share our vast knowledge with each other, it can be life changing. It is important to feel free to talk openly and honestly with each other in a trusting and safe environment.
Dr. Hilda Hutcherson suggests that women form sisterhood groups. These groups should be with women whom you like and trust and the group should meet regularly. Be sure to sure to serve plenty of food and drinks for a friendly and fun atmosphere. Some of Dr. Hutcherson's suggestions for getting the sharing ball rolling are as follows:

1. Have each sisterhood member write her own erotic fantasy and place it in a large bowl to ensure anonymity. After fellowship, food and a few glasses of wine, each member will take turns pulling a fantasy from the bowl and reading it aloud to the group. You will be surprised at how much you will learn by listening to someone else's fantasy. By the end of the evening, each woman won't be able to wait to get home to her partner.

2.Call your local Passion Party representative to give a presentation on erotic toys to your group. The representative will display erotic toys, explain how they work and offer them for sale to your group. Or, you can plan a field trip with your group to an adult store to explore, sample and purchase erotic toys.

3. Invite the group over for a "recipe" swap. Have each woman write her favorite sexual techique on a recipe card and place it in a bowl. Each woman takes a card as she is leaving the gathering. At the next meeting, each woman reveals what recipe she tried and how it worked for her.

Again, when trying something new, it is important to keep an open mind and have fun.

Sensuality 101: Ten Days, Ten Tips for a Spicy Valentine's Day

DAY SIX: Sexy Games

Remember how much fun you had playing games as a kid? It was exciting to finally find your hide and seek playmate or to be top dog in a competitive game of Monopoly.
It can be even more exciting, not to mention arousing to play these games and countless others with your lover. All that is needed is an open mind and a little imagination.
Strip poker is a classic game for couples. You can actually add "strip" to any game and make it more interesting. For example, when playing Monopoly, every time your partner lands on your property or rolls a certain number with the dice, you can have him or her remove a piece of clothing of your choice. Naked Twister is another arousing game for couples to play. But don't think that game time is limited to card or board games.
Role play can be equally as much fun and the possibilities are endless. You can arrange for your lover to meet you at a restaurant or bar and pretend to be a stranger who propositions you for a one night stand. How about a game of doctor? One of you can pretend to be the doctor who gives his or her patient a very thorough examination.
The point is to feel free to explore other avenues of enhancing your sex life.

DAY FIVE: Talk Dirty

Some women are embarrassed to even think dirty so talking dirty is definitely out of the question. But when you stop cringing and let your guard down and just try it, you may find that engaging in a little nasty talk can be quite arousing and stimulating.
Quite frankly, I don't see anything wrong with two adults who are involved in a healthy relationship indulging in an erotic exchange. This is a sure fire way to be an open communicator about your needs, desires or fantasies and to increase the passion in your relationship. Remember, a confident woman is a sexy woman.
Don't know what to say? You can start your research by reading erotica and paying careful attention to the bold and uninhibited phrases used to described what is happening in the story. It may even be a good idea to read together.
You may find it easier to write dirty than talk dirty. In this case, send your lover a sexy text message or email, detailing your intentions.
You can also practice talking dirty out loud to yourself. The goal is to get comfortable with the taste of the words in your mouth until they just roll off your tongue.
Whatever you do, don't forget to have fun doing it and encourage your partner to do the same.

DAY FOUR: Be A Star

Why not be the stars in your own erotic movie? This is a certain arousal booster. Using a tripod, position the video camera with lens facing toward the bed and film your lovemaking session. ONE COPY ONLY PLEASE unless you and your lover look forward to having your business go viral on the internet.
Dr. Hilda Hutcherson, author of Pleasure: A Woman's Guide to Getting the Sex You Want, Need and Deserve, if you are too shy for the big screen, you can place a tape recorder at the hea of the bed and record your sexy sounds during lovemaking. Listen together later to put you in a sexy mood.

Sensuality 101: Ten Days, Ten Tips for a Spicy Valentine's Day

DAY THREE: Adventuring Out of the Nest

Sex in the same place, at the same time quickly becomes routine and dull. A truly sensually erotic playmate will add spice to a long-term love affair by initiating sex (day two's tip) in varied and unusual places and at unexpected times. Something as simple as moving to a different room can lend an air of excitement to your sex play. Men love variety and you can provide all the novelty he'll ever need by being creative about where you seduce him.

1.Take it out of the bedroom. Seduce him while the two of you are watching television together in the living room. That big armchair would make a wonderful playpen. You can also try the kitchen counter, the bathroom floor or the attic. All are incredibly erotic spots for love trysts, if you make them so.

2.Your own backyard. While he is mowing the lawn, surprise him by leading him into the bushes for some truly wild lovemaking. You can also have sex on your porch swings or hammock. There is something intoxicating about the thrill of possible discovery.

3.The car. Your car is like your own personal love-making cocoon. Attack him in the back seat and it will be like reliving your teenage years.

4.Going up. When the two of you are alone on the elevator, take the opportunity to blow more than his mind. Have him hold the "door close" button while you live him a nice little oral treat.

5. Let's party. Cleverly excuse yourselves from a party or wedding reception and escape into the nearest bathroom, lock the door and go at it.

Wherever you make love, the point is to be creative and keep the relationship new and exciting. Remember, no one likes stale crackers.

Sensuality 101: Ten Days, Ten Tips for a Spicy Valentine's Day

Day Two: Initiate

Nothing turns a man on more than feeling wanted by his lover. Initiating lovemaking is admitting that you enjoy sex with him and you want more of it. Let's be honest... that's a feeling we all love.
Dr. Hilda Hutcherson, author of Pleasure: A Woman's Guide to Getting The Sex You Want, Need and Desire, you should make an effort to tell your man how much he turns you on and you'll find out how such a small gesture can make a big impact on your sex life and relationship.

A lot of women often shy away from initiating sex because our mothers have told us that "good girls" shouldn't ask for sex. Also, there is the fear that he may reject our advances. What would be more humiliating, right? Wrong! How can we expect to get what we want if we don't ask for it? Men certainly don't have this problem. They set themselves up for rejection all the time yet they keep asking.

How do you initiate sex? Well, I'm glad you asked. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Start with my tip from Day One. Kiss your man, deeply and passionately.

2. Whisper what you want in his ear. Don't be afraid to be explicit in your request. Tell him what you want to do to him and what you want him to do to you.

3. Grab his crotch. You can't get a more direct approach than this.

4. Give him a lap dance. Wear sexy lingerie and straddle him while gyrating and swirling your hips on his lap. Touching you is not allowed and maintaining eye contact is sexy as hell. "Cater 2U" by Destiny's Child is a great song to lap dance to (don't ask me how I know).

5. Bathe him. Like women, men love having it be all about them. Fill a tub with warm water. Sprinkle in some aromatherapy oil and light a few scented candles. Undress him and guide him into the tub. Lovingly wash and stroke every inch of his body.

These are just a few ways to seduce your man. Be creative. The goal is to let him know how much you crave him and that you can't wait to ride him into the night.

Sensuality 101: Ten Days, Ten Tips for a Spicy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is ten (10) days away and some of us are making plans for a quiet weekend getaway, romantic dinners, ordering flowers, purchasing red lingerie, learning a new bedroom trick or two, etc. All of these love day rituals are wonderful but did you know that adding a little sensuality to your sexuality can send your Valentine's Day into orbit?
And, who says you have to wait until February 14th to get started? How about ten days of toe-curling foreplay? I will post a spicy new tip everyday until Valentine's Day and you can turn Valentine's Day into Valentine's Week.

DAY ONE: KISSING

When was the last time you really kissed your partner? I am not talking about a peck on the cheek. I mean a REAL kiss like you did when the relationship was fresh and new and one touch of their lips on yours would make your heart pound and your breathing shallow and your soul stir. Do you remember? What? No? Shame on you! No worries because today is your lucky day (and his/hers)!

Kissing seems like such a simple place to begin but you wouldn't believe how many people really have no idea how to give or receive a mind-numbing kiss. Kissing is becoming a lost art. We have forgotten how deeply erotic and sensuous a kiss can be.

According to Olivia St. Claire, author of 203 Ways To Drive a Man Wild in Bed, if you approach each kiss with a sense of wonder, you'll be well on your way to creating a very sensual experience. St. Claire also suggests that you concentrate on the sensation of lip against lip, tongue on tongue, wet against dry, and you'll startle him into an early erection. He, too, will remember the excitement and electric discovery of that first kiss.

1. Close your eyes. Kissing is a performance to be felt not watched. There is something magical that happens when both of you relinquish control and allow your emotions to guide the kiss. The vulnerability and mystery of closing your eyes enhances the kiss for both of you.

2. Let your fingers do the walking while your tongue does the talking. Don't be afraid to caress your partner as your tongues playfully dart in and out of each others mouths. Stroke his face, the back of his head or neck. Grab and squeeze his ass.

3. Don't forget to moan or sigh during the kiss. Let him know that you are enjoying this intimate moment.

4. Two highly erogenous zones are the corners of his mouth. Gently lick/kiss these areas.

5. Invite him into the inside of your lips during a deep kiss. This area is softer and more sensitive. It is also a deeply intimate gesture.

Of course, no one said that kissing has to be limited to the lips. By all means, feel free to take the show on a tour all over his body. The nibbling, licking and kissing will drive him wild. Don't worry whether or not you are doing it right. His responses will be a the guidance you'll need.
